KIM BREAKS THE SOUND BARRIER

Street evangelism, as any other form of evangelism, is always a work in progress.

As time goes on for Christians who regularly bring the gospel out from the pages of the Bible and into the public square, there seems to be a progression of courage, confidence and tactics to assure the gospel is effectively given out to the general public.

Kim and I have been bringing the gospel to the streets of Ottawa together now for the past two and half years. We are still growing in this ministry. We are still learning. We are still a work in progress. And by God's grace, we pray we will always be.

The posted video documents Kim's first open air venture which took place this past weekend prior to my gospel presentation. A calling not of anyone else's but God's. A moving of His Spirit in her heart to call peoples' attention to the truth and glory of God in the public reading of Christmas carols and, more importantly, God's own word.

Our prayer is that other Christians who may be sensing a call to go the extra mile for the Lord in evangelism, may be encouraged by being witness to the ease and simplicity of Kim's presentation and follow suit.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)

Yesterday, while my wife bought some groceries at the local Wal-Mart for the annual Albrecht Christmas morning breakfast, I took the cross and stood in a place where the cars backed up as people were trying to leave the parking lot.

I was able to stand there for an hour and 45 minutes.

Hundreds and hundreds of cars passed by me as I stood on a sidewalk by the road.

I got lots of thumbs up. Lots of waves. Lots of horn blows. A few people rolled down their windows and wished me a Merry Christmas.

One young man drove out of the line and over to me. He got out of his car and came over and shook my hand and asked me if I needed a bottle of water to drink. He thanked me for being out there and then God blessed me.

Another man, as he was approaching closer to me, turned up his stereo and started singing out loud to the song, "The Old Rugged Cross".

I started to tear up at that point.

One little girl about 10 years old, from the back seat of her car, rolled down her window and shouted, "I AM READY!".

But for every person that gave a wave, a honk, a thumbs up or a Merry Christmas, there were dozens who looked at the cross and simply looked the other way....some even looked and laughed.

Kind of ironic that so many are in Wal-Mart to buy that gift for Christmas morning while not knowing what the whole celebration is all about.

What a great witnessing tool that cross is!
